Professor Richard Bunch

began training in Kodenkan Danzan Ryu Jujitsu in childhood, studying under Prof. Bill Montero, Sensei Glen Castlio, and Prof. Ray Law. At 14, he started training with Prof. Sig Kufferath, regarded as the head of the style. He received his 1st-degree black belt in 1969 and was later promoted to Chief Instructor. Over 28 years of dedicated study with Prof. Kufferath, his rank has risen to Judan (10th degree black belt), recognized internationally.

Prof. Bunch has also studied with numerous masters of various martial arts and elder practitioners under Professor Okazaki, giving him a broad perspective on Danzan Ryu. His expertise extends to Japanese sword, weaponry, and armor. A highly respected instructor and scholar, he teaches seminars worldwide and was honored as Jujitsu America's 1989 Instructor of the Year.

Carla Bunch

began her Jujitsu training in 1986, extensively studying with Professor Sig Kufferath, head of the Kodenkan Danzan Ryu system, and Professor Richard Bunch, his successor. She has worked with top Jujitsu experts in the U.S., gaining deep technical knowledge in both Kata and combat.

Carla is an accomplished competitor.  She holds 3 World Titles at the 2017 Sport Jujitsu World Games.  She was the USA Team Coach in England in 2023.  Carla is the current President of Jujitsu America.

Charlie Mosqueda

On the year of 1972, at Los Arboles School in Marina California, I had the privilege of training under Professor John Chow-Hoon / Professor James Muro. I received the ranking of Shodan on 7-27-1980, Nidan on 7-30-1983 and around 1989, I moved to San Jose, California for job opportunities and started training with Professor Sig Kufferath / Professor Richard Bunch in Mountain View California. I continued being ranked by the Chow-Hoon organization and J.A., receiving my Sandan on 1-27-1990 and received Yodan on 12-21-2010 and Godan on 9-7-2018. Presently, I continue to train and to be one of the instructors at Nikko Jujitsu School.

Michael French

6th Dan, began studying martial arts over 50 years ago thanks to his first sensei, Kirk Jaeger. He trained in Danzan-ryu Jujitsu and Matsumura Shorin-ryu Karate through the Kodenkan Yudanshakai, with lineage tracing back to Professor Joe Holck and Seijun Kina. In 1987, he earned his first-degree black belt in Karate.

After moving to the Bay Area, Sensei French continued his training in Danzan-ryu Jujitsu at Nikko Jujitsu, earning his Shodan in 1994 and Nidan in 2004. A former world-ranked swimmer, he considers himself fortunate to have worked with top instructors and aims to help his students reach their full potential, continuing the tradition of his teachers.
